Tebma is one of the three major private sector players in the Indian shipbuilding industry. Tebma was incorporated in 1984 and commenced commercial operations in 1987. It is promoted by a team of six marine professionals aggregating over 150 man-years’ experience in the shipbuilding and repair industry. The Company was historically focused on building tugs and dredgers and has built 106 vessels till 2006 catering to the requirements of a diverse clientele including leading ports, shipping companies, Indian navy, lake authorities and dredging service providers for the public as well as the private sector.

The Shipbuilding industry globally has entered a phase of very high growth with a large order book size for players across the globe. Tebma is currently at an inflexion point , as it is moving from being a manufacturer of small vessels (tugs, dredgers etc.) to manufacturing Offshore Supply Vessels for a global clientele. The Fund has financed the growth plans of the company by providing it funds for the construction of its new yard at Malpe. The investment is based on Tebma’s key strengths – its execution capabilities, order book size (Rs 11,825 million) and competitive edge in the Offshore Supply Vessels (OSVs) market and the strong growth prospects of the Indian shipbuilding industry.
