Sumit joined ICICI Venture in 2000. He has over 17 years of experience in private equity, structured finance and project finance. Sumit is responsible for investments in manufacturing sectors and engineering services. Since joining ICICI Venture, he has been involved in all aspects of the investment process; including sourcing, transaction structuring, financing and execution of post closing growth strategies. Sumit has led transactions in VA Tech Wabag, Ace Refractories, PVR Ltd., TEBMA Shipyards, Rubamin Ltd, and Infowavz. He serves on the Board of Directors of PVR Limited, VA Tech Wabag, TEBMA Shipyard and Rubamin Ltd.

Prior to joining ICICI Venture, Sumit worked with ICICI Ltd. and GE Capital. At ICICI, he was part of the project finance group and was involved in financing of cement, steel and manufacturing projects. At GE Capital, Sumit was part of the core team that set up Commercial Finance operations in India. His last assignment at GE Capital was as Country Head for Vendor Financing business in India.

Sumit received a Bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
