Jayanta Banerjee is a President in the Private Equity practice of ICICI Venture
Funds Management Company Limited. Jayanta is an electrical engineer from Jadavpur
University and an MBA from IIM Bangalore.
Jayanta joined ICICI Venture in 2002. He has worked on multiple investments across
sectors including textiles, construction, manufacturing, aviation, infrastructure
and logistics. Jayanta has also executed several exits of portfolio companies of
ICICI Venture including sale of majority stakes to strategic investors. In 2007,
Jayanta headed the Indian Private Equity business of Lehman Brothers before rejoining
ICICI Venture. He is currently a member of the management team of ICICI Venture’s
private equity practice. Jayanta currently represents ICICI Venture on the boards
of Bharat Biotech, Malladi Drugs & Pharmaceuticals. Radiant Research and Arch Pharmalabs.
Jayanta was instrumental in raising ICICI Venture’s US$ 810 million India Advantage
Fund Series 2 and is currently driving the fund raising process of India Advantage
Fund Series 3.
Jayanta has worked with organizations like Bank of America, ICICI Securities and
Ernst & Young. In addition to private equity, he has extensive experience of Indian
capital markets. As an investment banker, Jayanta has advised clients in raising
private equity and has worked on several capital market transactions. Prior to joining
business school he has worked in the engineering industry in companies like Siemens.
