Ms. Lalita D. Gupte,
Chairperson - ICICI Venture

Ms. Gupte joined ICICI in 1971 and has acquired a wide range of experience in the areas of strategic planning, project finance, leasing, resources and treasury, and credit operations. She was appointed Executive Director of ICICI Ltd. in 1994 and subsequently became Deputy Managing Director and Joint Managing Director of ICICI Ltd. and ICICI Bank. She retired from ICICI Bank in October 2006. Ms. Gupte has a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics Honours) and also holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. 


Mr Kashi Memani
Director

Mr. Memani is the former Chairman and Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young, India, a position from which he retired in 2004. He has also been a member of the Ernst & Young Global Council for the past 10 years. Mr. Memani specialises in business and corporate advisory, foreign taxation and financial consultancy and provides his consulting services on corporate matters to several domestic and foreign companies. He has assisted several multinational companies in setting up businesses in India. Mr. Memani is associated with various Chambers of Commerce and is also a member of the governing bodies of certain business schools and social, educational, service and charity organisations. Mr. Memani is a Chartered Accountant.


Ms. Madhabi Puri Buch
Director

Ms. Puri Buch began her banking career at ICICI in its corporate finance department, where she worked for four years. She subsequently left ICICI Bank, returning in 1997 to lead various initiatives, including building the ICICI brand, enhancing ICICI’s bond issue capabilities, launching a nationwide sales network for the distribution of mutual funds and creating an online share trading site for ICICI. Following her successful execution of these initiatives, Ms. Puri Buch managed the home loans business, transaction banking and customer service. She joined the Board of ICICI Bank in June, 2007 as Executive Director responsible for Treasury Solutions, Global Operations and the Brand. Ms. Puri Buch holds a mathematics degree from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management , Ahmedabad.

Mr H N Sinor
Director

Mr. Sinor’s career in the banking sector has spanned over 43 years, during which he has served in a wide range of roles related to commercial banking operations. He began his career in 1965 with the Central Bank of India and in 1969 moved to Union Bank of India, where he worked for 28 years. During his career at Union Bank of India, he served in various capacities, reaching the position of General Manager. In 1996, he was appointed as Executive Director of the Central Bank of India. He subsequently moved to ICICI Bank in July 1997 as Executive Director. In 1998, he took over as Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank. Following the merger of ICICI and ICICI Bank in 2002, he served as Joint Managing Director of ICICI Bank. Mr. Sinor retired from ICICI Bank in 2003 and subsequently joined the Indian Banks’ Association as Chief Executive and Secretary. Mr. Sinor holds degrees in commerce and law. He has worked on various committees of the Reserve Bank of India, the Indian Banks’ Association and the Confederation of Indian Industry and has actively contributed to policy and decision-making processes at these institutions.


Ms Renuka Ramnath
Managing Director & CEO

Ms. Ramnath has served as Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Venture since 2001. Under her leadership, ICICI Venture manages an aggregate of US$2.4 billion in private equity, buyouts, real estate and mezzanine assets. Ms. Ramnath's career with the ICICI Group has spanned over 20 years. She began her career in ICICI's Merchant Banking division and then headed the Corporate Finance and Equities businesses at ICICI Securities, an investment banking joint venture between ICICI and JPMorgan. In 1997, she moved back to ICICI Limited in order to launch its Structured Finance business. In 2000, she led the e-commerce initiatives of the ICICI Group and built a foundation spanning B2B, B2C and technology opportunities. 

Under Ms. Ramnath's leadership, ICICI Venture has raised the India Advantage Funds ("IAF") series of funds, including the private equity funds IAF Series 1 and IAF Series 2 and the real estate funds IAF III and IAF IV. Ms. Ramnath has featured in the articles "The Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Indian Business" (Business Today) and "India's Most Powerful CEOs" (Economic Times). She has an engineering degree and an MBA in finance from the University of Bombay. She has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.


Mr. Rajeev Bakshi
Joint Managing Director

Mr. Bakshi has recently joined the Board of the Investment Adviser. With 29 years of corporate and senior management experience, Rajeev provides overall leadership to the firm. He works closely with the investment teams to shape investment strategies and evaluation of investment opportunities. Mr. Bakshi specifically focuses on and leads Real Estate practice. Prior to joining the Investment Adviser, Mr. Bakshi was most recently based in Hong Kong as the Senior Vice President - Commercial of Asia Pacific for PepsiCo. Before that, he served as the Chairman of Pepsi India for over five years. Prior to joining the Pepsi organisation, Rajeev spent nine years with Cadbury. During his time at Cadbury, he was the Managing Director of the firm's India operations and also served as the Managing Director of Cadbury's South African business. Rajeev began his career with Lakme India, where he spent 13 years in different roles, culminating in being appointed as the Head of Sales and Marketing for Lakme India. Mr. Bakshi holds a Bachelor degree in economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
